The Importance of Postpartum Support

An excellent baby shower gift is the gift of postpartum care.  Most new mothers have approximately 7-10 days of visitors and caregivers coming on a consistent basis.  After this period, they are left to fend for themselves without support in their new mothering role.  Whether a mom be having her first child or her fifth, postpartum support from an experienced doula is not only a luxury, but also a means of reducing stress for the entire family, minimizing the risk for postpartum depression, and ensuring that the family get off to a good start.
